¡Mucho Gusto!

God has put every being on Earth for a reason, everything is meant to live here in peace, in harmony. That's why all animals are sacred. Their lives are just as sacred as ours ~AnnA

My journey starts in 2004, when we took this beautiful little Scottish lassie home. (Don't be fooled by that adorable smile, beneath that facade hides the ultimate stubborn Scott.) Little 'Sandy' has ignited a spark within me that, to this day, still lights a fire. My love for nature, my drive to protect it, it all started with this little one. She has been my muse.

I have always loved to convey that spark to the people around me, people I would spontaneously meet, just with whomever crossed my path really. Indeed, it is my dream to spread my enthusiasm for nature with as many people as possible. As much as I detest the digital age we live in right now, it enables me to share it with a wide public. So, instead of whining about it, I thought why not use it to my advantage? Hence this blog.

One part of my dream has always been establishing my own conservation organization or rescue farm. Where people will have to use binoculars to see the elephants. Not anything like a zoo, because why would we ever want to confine other living beings when we ourselves have learned how depressing limited freedom can be (remember the covid pandemic?). Of course, zoos also ensure and support the survival of species through e.g. breeding programmes, but isn't it sad we have come to the point we have to put beautiful wild animals in cages simply so their species don't go extinct?! Just imagine waking up and every day is the same, no freedom to go out and explore. I could continue on and on about how stressed animals in captivity become. (But that's a story for next time.)

Inspired by my dream to one day say I made a difference, I want to share some words of encouragement to people that are hesitating to take a step towards fulfilling their dreams: I also don't have an idea of how I am going to actually make that difference. Sure, I have created this blog but there is still so much unclear. But let's just go for it. Simple as that, but it's the start of everything. We are taught that if it hasn't been done before, it is impossible. Sometimes you have to do the things nobody else dares to. Have courage, be the first.

'Cause you can't start a fire without a spark ;)
